Moyock has changed a lot in recent years, with new subdivisions rising alongside farmhouses that have stood for generations, and that mix means plumbing needs here vary more than in a typical single era town. Hats Off Heating and Cooling serves homeowners across that full range, from brand new construction to properties with decades of history.
Just south of the Virginia border, many Moyock properties still rely on private wells and septic systems even as newer developments bring municipal style infrastructure to parts of the area. Our technicians are equally comfortable with both.
Every job comes with our satisfaction guarantee and a two year labor warranty on new installations.

Bo was absolutely wonderful in discussing everything with us for our tankless water heater. The crew that worked to take out of tank water heater, and install the tankless was heater were great as well. We couldn't have asked for a better experience with Hats Off Heating and Air Conditioning. We actually hired them to be our AC/Heat guys for all tuneups in the future even though we did like our previous company, Hats Off was just so personable, and it's nice to have the same company for everything. Thank you Bo, and Team for a great job, and a seamless experience.Posted on GoogleMargaret GTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.

I called Hats Off because they had great reviews and are family-owned. I had a clogged drain line from heat pump that needed to be resolved because the water pan overflowed and leaked through my ceiling. The technician, Evan, was very kind and walked me through everything he was doing including taking before/after pictures. He recognized the issue, cleaned out the line, and also recommended a safety switch to prevent the heat pump from continuing to run if the line gets clogged again. He was able to install the switch during the same visit. I appreciate their integrity and transformation. I was not left guessing about what was going on or what I was paying for. Thank you to Evan and Hats Off.Posted on GoogleJaclyn MTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
Very professional and thorough. They take pictures and share them and provide all the details of the inspection done on the unit. Great company!!
Moyock’s rapid growth means plumbing issues here fall into two very different categories. Newer subdivision homes sometimes experience installation related issues from rushed construction during high demand periods, while older farmhouses scattered throughout the area often carry original plumbing that’s simply reached the end of its expected lifespan.
The area’s flat terrain and proximity to the North Carolina and Virginia border also means many properties share similar groundwater conditions with neighboring Currituck County, including a water table that sits close to the surface.
Watch for these signs that a Moyock home may need plumbing repair:
Whether your home was built last year or fifty years ago, a plumber who can quickly identify which category your issue falls into saves time and gets to the right fix faster.
In newer Moyock subdivisions, water heaters are typically installed to current code, but that doesn’t mean they’re immune to problems, especially when a builder grade unit reaches the end of its standard lifespan sooner than expected. In older farmhouses, units are often working overtime to compensate for outdated plumbing elsewhere in the home.
Our technicians assess each situation on its own terms, checking whether water heater repair addresses the issue or if the unit has simply reached a point where replacement makes more sense.
Whichever direction makes sense for your home, we handle the installation properly and back it with a two year labor warranty.
New subdivisions in Moyock still have young landscaping, which means root intrusion typically isn’t yet a major concern there, but older farmhouse properties with mature trees see it regularly. Meanwhile, septic systems remain common enough throughout the wider Moyock area that drain cleaning has to account for what those systems can handle.
Our full service plumbing covers homeowners across Moyock’s full range of property types:
Whether you’re in a brand new build or a farmhouse that’s been in the family for generations, we bring the right approach to the job.
Diane, a homeowner in a newer Moyock subdivision, called us about a persistent drip under her kitchen sink that had started just a few months after moving in. She assumed it was something she’d need to live with until a warranty claim went through.
Our technician found a supply line fitting that hadn’t been fully seated during the original construction, a common issue in homes built quickly during periods of high demand. It wasn’t a defective part, just a connection that needed to be properly tightened and sealed.
We corrected the fitting in a matter of minutes, and Diane was relieved it wasn’t a bigger issue involving the home’s warranty process. She mentioned she’d been bracing for a much more complicated fix.
From new construction to century old farmhouses, Moyock homeowners need a plumber who can handle it all. Here’s why they call us:
